Anthony the Great
Okay kiddo, Anthony the Great was a very special man who lived a very long time ago. He was born around 251 AD in Egypt and he became a Christian when he was just a teenager.
He decided to live a very different kind of life from what most people were doing at that time. Instead of living with his family and going to school or working, he decided to live all by himself in the desert. He did this because he wanted to be closer to God and he thought that living alone would help him do that.
At first, it was really hard for Anthony. He had never been alone for such a long time and he had to learn how to do everything by himself. But he didn't give up. He prayed a lot and he also did a lot of hard work like planting his own food and making his own clothes.
After a while, Anthony became very famous for the kind of life he was living. Many people wanted to learn from him and asked him to teach them how to live a good and holy life. Even kings and queens came to see him and ask for his advice!
Anthony was so good at teaching people that they called him "Anthony the Great." He taught people how to pray, how to love God, and how to help others. Many people were inspired by him and they started living like he did, all alone in the desert.
Eventually, Anthony got very old and he died at the age of 105. But his teachings and his way of living are still remembered today! People still look up to Anthony the Great as a great teacher and an inspiration.
