So, a long time ago there were different kinds of humans. You know how there are different kinds of animals like dogs and cats and birds? Well, there were different kinds of humans too!
The humans you and I know are called Homo sapiens. But before we existed, there were other kinds of humans that lived on Earth. They looked different than us and didn't act the same way either.
These other kinds of humans are called archaic humans. They lived a really long time ago, like hundreds of thousands of years ago. Some of these archaic humans were called Homo erectus and they lived in Africa and Asia a long time ago.
Another kind of archaic human was called Neanderthal. They lived in Europe and Asia around 400,000 years ago. They were pretty strong and had bigger brains than us. But they're not around anymore, they went extinct.
There were other kinds of archaic humans too, but they all eventually died out. The only humans left now are Homo sapiens, just like you and me!
So even though there were different kinds of humans a long time ago, we all came from the same place and evolved over time to become the humans we know now.
