ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Attrition warfare

Attrition warfare is a type of war in which each side tries to wear down the other side by gradually increasing losses over time. Instead of trying to win the war quickly and decisively by attacking the enemy's forces or land, the sides may focus on destroying each other's supplies and depleting their resources. This can involve things like long sieges of cities, attacking supply lines, or using guerrilla tactics like hit-and-run raids to gradually weaken the other side.
