Atypical gender role

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard people say that boys like blue and cars and girls like pink and dolls? Well, sometimes people don't feel like they fit into these typical things that boys or girls are "supposed" to like. For example, a boy might want to play with dolls or wear dresses, or a girl might like playing with trucks and wearing short hair.

When someone doesn't feel like they fit into the expected roles and behaviors for their gender, we call it an atypical gender role. This doesn't mean that it's bad - it just means that they're different from what we expect. And that's okay! Everyone is unique and likes different things, and that's what makes the world an interesting and diverse place.
