Axe

An axe is a tool that you can use to chop things. You hold it by the long handle, and then you swing the sharp end at whatever you want to cut. People have been using axes for a very, very long time. They used them to chop down trees, to split wood for fires, and to build things like houses and furniture.

Axe heads are usually made out of metal or stone and can be very heavy. The sharp end of the axe, called the blade, is what does the cutting. Be careful, though! Axes are dangerous, and you should never swing one around if you don't know how to use it.
