Backlash (sociology)

Backlash is when people react strongly against something. For example, if a group of people starts doing something that some other people don't think is a good idea, those people often respond with backlash. The backlash can be mean comments, boycotts, protests, or even violence. Backlash usually happens when a group starts doing something different or new, which makes some people feel scared or angry.
