Biomass power station

Have you ever seen a fire being lit in the fireplace or in a bonfire outside? When things like wood or dried leaves burn, they produce heat and light. Now, imagine a much larger fire burning in a place called a power station. But instead of using coal or gas, this station uses things like wood chips, plant matter, and even animal waste!

This type of power station is called a biomass power station. Biomass basically means any type of living or once-living material. It's renewable energy because we can always grow more plants and trees to use as fuel.

When the biomass materials are burned, they create heat, which is used to make steam. The steam turns a turbine, which is like a big wheel that makes electricity. This electricity is then sent through power lines to homes and businesses.

Biomass power stations are good for the environment because they produce less pollution than burning fossil fuels like coal and oil. Plus, using biomass helps to reduce waste by using materials that might otherwise just be thrown away.

So the next time you see a fire burning or a pile of leaves in the backyard, you can think about how it's possible to use those materials to create electricity and help the environment!
