Channel (geography)

A channel in geography is like a path that water follows from one place to another. Imagine you are playing with a hose in your backyard and you see the water flowing out of the hose. Now, imagine you place a bunch of rocks on the ground in a row and send the water through them. The water will now follow the path created by the rocks – this is what we call a channel. Channels can also be made by rivers, streams, and even underground water, and they are important because they can change the shape of the land around them by eroding the soil and carving out new paths to follow.
