Data degradation

Data degradation is when the quality of a piece of data is lowered over time. It can happen in many different ways. For example, if you take a picture with a camera, the quality of the picture might go down if you make copies of it, or if the file is damaged in some way. Another way it can happen is if you are storing data in a computer, and the device gradually becomes less reliable and can't accurately read the data anymore.
