A demonstration, also known as a protest, is when a group of people come together to show that they disagree with something. For example, if a lot of people believe that something is not right or fair, they might want to show this by going to a big group gathering where they can yell, chant, or hold signs to express their views.
Say you and your friends want to show your teachers that you don’t like having homework every night. You might all create signs that say “No more homework, please!” and then you would go stand outside the school and yell this phrase over and over again until someone listens.
Demonstrations can be peaceful or they can turn violent. It's important to remember that we should never hurt other people or damage any property during a demonstration. It's a way to show what we believe in but we should always be safe while doing it.
