ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ezekiel 34

Okay kiddo, so in the Bible there is a book called Ezekiel and in that book there is a chapter called 34. This chapter is about a guy named Ezekiel who was a prophet and he spoke for God.

In chapter 34, God tells Ezekiel to talk to the leaders of the people of Israel. God is not happy with these leaders because they are not taking care of the people like they should. It's kind of like if you have a pet and you don't feed it or take care of it, that would make the pet very sad and sick.

God tells Ezekiel to tell the leaders that they are like bad shepherds who don't take care of their sheep. Shepherds are people who take care of sheep and make sure they have everything they need like food, water, and protection. The leaders should be taking care of the people in the same way.

God says that he will take care of the people himself and he will be their shepherd instead. He promises to give them everything they need and protect them from harm. He also says that he will punish the bad leaders and replace them with good ones who will take care of the people like they should.

So, basically, Ezekiel 34 is a story about leaders who are not doing their job and God promising to step in and take care of his people who are like sheep. It teaches us that leaders should always take care of the people they are responsible for and that God is always watching over us and making sure we are okay.
