Fossil fuel power station

A fossil fuel power station is like a giant machine that makes electricity by burning stuff like coal, oil, and gas.

You know when you see a fire and feel the warmth coming from it? Well, in a power station, they use something like coal to make a really big fire. The fire gets very hot and makes steam. Steam is like water when it gets very hot and turns into a gas.

They collect the steam and put it through some big machines called turbines. These are like spinning wheels that turn and make electricity.

The electricity goes through lots of big wires to where it's needed - like your house or school.

One bad thing about fossil fuel power stations is that they make bad things called greenhouse gases that can be bad for the Earth. But, sometimes we need to use them to get the electricity we need.
