When people die, sometimes they are buried in a special place called a grave. A grave is like a special hole in the ground where a person's body is put. This is usually done after the person's family and friends have a special ceremony to say goodbye to them.
When someone is buried in a grave, they are usually put into a special box called a coffin or casket. The coffin or casket is a special box made out of wood or metal to keep the person's body safe. Sometimes people decorate the coffin or casket with flowers or other special things that remind them of the person who passed away.
Once the person's body is in the coffin or casket, it is taken to the grave. The grave is usually dug by special workers who use shovels or machines to dig a deep hole in the ground. The hole is big enough for the coffin or casket to fit inside.
At the gravesite, the family and friends say some special words or prayers for the person who passed away. Then, the coffin or casket is lowered into the grave. This is usually done by ropes or special machines, so nobody has to lift the heavy box.
After the coffin or casket is in the grave, the workers start to cover it up with dirt. This is called "filling in the grave". Once the grave is filled in, a special marker or tombstone is usually put on top of the spot to remember the person who is buried there. People can come back to the grave to visit and remember their loved one who passed away.
