Hanseatic League

The Hanseatic League was an association of cities and towns in the 1400s and 1500s in Northern Europe. They all wanted to work together to make their towns wealthy and powerful. The Hanseatic League cities and towns traded goods with each other and with other countries, making themselves lots of money. They also formed an alliance to help protect each other. For example, if one city or town was attacked, the others would come to the rescue. The Hanseatic League was very successful and powerful, and it lasted for many years until it ended in the 1600s.
