Henry George was a writer and economist from the 1800s who believed that the best way to make sure everyone in a society had enough money was to tax the land and buildings that people owned. He thought that this was fair, because land was something that nobody can create, so it should be shared by everyone. Usually, people who own land or buildings get to keep all the money they make from that property, but with Henry George's idea, they still got to keep most of it, but they also had to pay taxes on it. That money then could be used to help people who didn't have very much.
