Heteropatriarchy

Heteropatriarchy is a system that gives special privileges to certain groups of people based on their gender and sexual orientation. This system makes sure that people of certain gender identities and sexual orientations have more power than others. For example, in heterosexual (straight) relationships, the man is usually seen as more powerful than the woman, even though one person does not have to be more powerful than the other. This is part of a larger system of power and privilege that is often called heteropatriarchy.
