History of metaphysical naturalism

Metaphysical naturalism is the philosophical idea that nature is all there is. It suggests that everything in the universe was caused by natural forces, that the universe works according to natural laws, and that there is nothing supernatural or spiritual outside of nature. Metaphysical naturalism is an ancient belief, dating back to the pre-Socratic philosophers of ancient Greece.
