History of the United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is a country in Europe. It's made up of four parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The history of the United Kingdom goes back thousands of years, when different groups of people and tribes lived in the area. Over time, England became the main power and started to take over parts of Scotland, Wales and Ireland, forming the country we know as the United Kingdom today. In the 1800s, the UK became bigger and stronger, taking over parts of other countries, in a process called colonialism. This made the UK an important world power. During World War 1 and 2, the UK was an important part of the Alliances that helped win the wars. In the last century, the UK has become a hub of commerce and culture, and its citizens enjoy many freedoms and rights.
