The human genome is like a very long instruction book for making and operating a human. It contains all of our genes, which are like tiny instruction sets that tell our bodies how to look, work, and behave. When scientists talk about the "human genome," they're talking about all of the genes that make us who we are. Inside each of our cells are little packages called chromosomes and inside of each chromosome is a very long sequence of instructions - these instructions tell our bodies how to look and operate!
