ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

International relations

International relations is like how we make friends with people from different countries. Just like how we have friends in school, our country also has friends from other countries. Some of our friends are really close to us and we share a lot with them, while others are not that close but we still talk to them sometimes.

But not all countries are friends with each other. Just like how we might not like everyone in our school or class. Sometimes, countries have disagreements or problems with each other. When that happens, they might not talk to each other or may even fight.

To prevent this from happening, countries have to work together to figure out how they can be friends and get along with each other. They can do this by having meetings, making agreements, and helping each other out when needed.

Just like how we have to follow rules in school, countries also have to follow rules that they agree on. These rules tell countries how they should treat each other and how they should act in certain situations. They are called international laws.

International relations is like a big game of diplomacy, where countries try to work together in order to make friends, solve problems, and create a better world for everyone.
