Irredentism

Irredentism is when a group of people in a country want to join a different country because they have strong ties to that country. For example, people living in Scotland might want to join with people living in England to form a new, bigger country because both countries have a lot of history and culture in common. It can also be people in the same country who want to join with people from another country because they share similar cultural or language ties.
