ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Italic script

Italic script refers to a way of writing words where the letters are slanted to the right. It's like when you draw a line from the top-left corner to the bottom-right corner of a piece of paper, and then write words along that line.

People started using italic script a long time ago, around the 1500s. It was a way to make their writing look fancier and more stylish. Nowadays, we use italic script for different reasons. Sometimes we use it to emphasize certain words in a sentence, or to show quotes or titles of books or movies.

Using italic script is as easy as highlighting the words you want to be in italics and clicking the italicize button on your computer or typing the code for it in HTML. That way, the words will appear slanted and stand out from the normal text. So next time you want to add some flair to your writing, consider using italic script!
