Music Information Retrieval (MIR) is a type of technology that helps computers better understand music. It can help computers store, organize, and search through music. It also lets computers automatically tag music with things like genres, so that people can quickly search for music they like. For example, if someone wants to listen to jazz music, they can search for it and the computer will show them all the jazz songs it has saved.
