ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health

Do you know how important it is to stay safe while you play? Well, it's just as important for grown-ups while they work too! And that's where the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) comes in.

NIOSH is a place where smart people work together to make sure that people who work jobs are safe and healthy. They do lots of things to make sure workers don't get hurt or sick while they are doing their jobs.

For example, they study different jobs to see what kind of things might hurt workers. They also look for ways to make jobs better and safer, like finding better tools or making new rules.

NIOSH also helps make sure that workers are not exposed to harmful chemicals like lead or dangerous gases. They do lots of research to know how much of these things are safe for people to be around.

NIOSH also makes special clothes and gear for workers, like hard hats, gloves, and masks. These things help protect workers' bodies from getting hurt or sick.

So, just like how you need to be safe and healthy while you play, grown-ups need to be safe and healthy while they work. And thanks to NIOSH, workers have a lot of help to make sure they stay safe!
