ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Non-violent resistance

Non-violent resistance is like playing a game with rules that says you can't hurt anybody. If someone is being mean to you or doing something you don't like, you use peaceful actions instead of fighting back.

For example, if someone is taking your toy and won't give it back, instead of hitting them or yelling, you might try asking nicely or sharing with them. This way, nobody gets hurt and you can both feel happy.

Grown-ups use non-violent resistance too. If they don't agree with something their boss or government is doing, they might organize a peaceful protest or boycott instead of starting a war or fighting.

Non-violent resistance is all about trying to solve problems without hurting other people.
