Race in the United States

Okay kiddo, so you know how people come in all different colors and shades, right? Well, some people have used these differences in color to create categories called "races". In the United States, there are different races like White, Black, Asian, Native American, and more.

But here's the thing - just because someone looks different doesn't mean they are fundamentally different as a person. We are all humans and deserve equal treatment and opportunities, no matter what race we are.

Unfortunately, in the past and still today, some people have treated others unfairly based on race. This is called racism, and it's not okay. It can lead to things like discrimination, inequality, and even violence.

A long time ago, Black people in America were forced to work as slaves and were treated very poorly because of the color of their skin. Even after slavery ended, there was still segregation, where Black people had to use different buses, restrooms, and sometimes didn't get the same job opportunities as White people.

But over time, people started speaking up and fighting for change. The Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s helped Black people gain more rights and freedoms. However, racism still exists today, and we need to continue working to make sure everyone is treated fairly and with respect, no matter what race they are.
