ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Immigration to the United States

Immigration is when people from other countries, like Mexico, India, South Korea, etc., come to live in the United States. This is different than taking a vacation, because these people want to come to America to stay for a long time. Sometimes, people come to America because they want to look for a job, or to have more opportunities, like money, education and better healthcare. For example, if someone from Mexico wanted to get a better job, they could come to the United States to try to get that job. In order to do this, they would have to fill out a lot of forms and get permission from the government to come and stay. After they get permission, the person can come to the United States to live, work and be part of the community.
