ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Riding a rail

Okay kiddo, so imagine you have a toy train and you want it to move on a special kind of track called a rail. The rail is kind of like a long and thin strip made of metal, usually silver or brown in color.

Now, the way you make the toy train move on the rail is by placing its wheels on top of the rail so that it can roll along it. The wheels have a special shape that fits perfectly on the rail, so they don't fall off or get stuck.

But sometimes, people don't use a toy train, they use a longer, heavier object like a skateboard or a bicycle to ride on top of the rail. This is called riding a rail, and it takes a lot of skill and balance to do it without falling off.

The tricky part about riding a rail is that the rail is not flat, it is curved or angled in different ways. This means that the skateboard or bicycle needs to be tilted slightly to one side or the other to be able to follow the rail's path. It's almost like surfing on a wave, but instead of water, you're riding on metal!

People who are really good at riding rails can do all sorts of cool tricks and jumps while staying balanced on top of the rail. It's like a skateboard or a bicycle dance party on top of the rail!

But remember, kiddo, riding a rail can be dangerous, so always make sure to wear a helmet and other protective gear and ask a grown-up for help and supervision before trying it yourself. Safety first!
