Selma to Montgomery marches

The Selma to Montgomery marches were a series of marches from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery, Alabama in the mid-1960s to protest racial injustice and the segregation of black and white people in the South. Hundreds of people marched for four days and over 50 miles from Selma to Montgomery, to demand that the government take action and protect their rights. People from all backgrounds and ages, including many children, joined in these marches. They faced beatings, arrests, and even death. But their courage and determination helped bring about changes in the law that made it possible for black people to have the same rights and freedoms as white people.
