Sodium vapor lamp

Hey there! So, a sodium vapor lamp is a special type of light that uses sodium gas to create light.

You know how when you shake a glow stick, it starts to light up? Well, the same kind of thing happens in a sodium vapor lamp. When you turn on the lamp, a special gas called sodium is inside. When electricity passes through that gas, it makes the gas become excited (kind of like how you get excited and energized when you see your favorite toy or game).

And when that sodium gas gets excited, it starts to give off a special color of light that we call "sodium vapor". That light looks kind of like a pale yellow or orange color.

The cool thing about sodium vapor lamps is that they're very good at lighting up big areas, like streetlights or parking lots. They use much less energy than other kinds of lights, which is good for the environment and saves money too! But because the light looks a little different than other lights, some people don't like it as much.

So, in short - a sodium vapor lamp is a light that uses a special gas called sodium to make very efficient and bright light.
