ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Speech disfluencies

Speech disfluencies are when our words get stuck when we talk, like when we say "um" or "uh" or repeat a word or sound many times. Just like how sometimes we forget what we want to say and need to pause, our brain can also struggle to find the right words to use, which can cause these breakages in our speech. It’s okay if this happens - everyone has disfluencies every once in a while!
