Speech–language pathology

Speech–language pathology is a type of medicine that helps people learn how to communicate better. People who study speech–language pathology (sometimes called speech pathologists) help people to talk, read, understand, and write better. They also help people who have trouble swallowing food or liquids safely. Speech pathologists usually work with children and adults who have trouble talking, stuttering, or understanding what other people say. Speech pathologists work with these people to help them improve these skills. For example, they might use games and activities to help someone learn how to say words correctly and understand what other people are saying. Speech pathologists might also design a special way of communication for someone who can't speak.
