Stolen Generations is a term used to describe Indigenous Australians (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders) who, over a period of about 100 years, were removed from their families. This happened when the Australian government decided it was best for Indigenous Australian children to be looked after by white people. As a result, lots of children were taken from their families, homes, land and cultures and were sent away. This had a big impact on Indigenous families and caused a lot of heartache and hurt.
