ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sukha

Okay, so imagine you just had an ice cream cone, and it made you so happy! Sukha is kind of like that feeling of happiness and joy. But it's not just a small or short-lived happiness like when you get a toy from the store-- it can be a really deep and long-lasting good feeling. Sukha is often used in a special way in Hinduism and Buddhism to describe a kind of happiness that doesn't depend on things outside of ourselves, like getting a lot of toys or eating a lot of ice cream. Instead, it comes from feeling like we are on the right path and are doing what is good for us and others. So, when we practice things like being kind, or meditating, we might feel a sense of sukha, that good feeling that comes from doing something positive. The more we practice those things, the more it can grow and bring us even more happiness and peace inside.
