The Blitz

During World War II, there was a big war happening between lots of countries. One of these countries was called Great Britain, and they were fighting against another country called Germany. The war was fought with weapons like guns and bombs, and it was a very scary time for lots of people in Great Britain.

One thing that happened during the war was called the Blitz. This happened when Germany sent lots and lots of planes over to Great Britain to drop bombs on them. This was a big problem because the bombs hurt and killed lots of people, and also destroyed buildings and homes.

The Blitz lasted for a few months, and during that time many people had to stay in their homes or in special shelters to stay safe. The government made special rules called blackout rules, which meant that people had to turn off all their lights at night so the planes couldn't see what they were bombing. People also had to wear special helmets to protect their heads in case a bomb fell near them.

Even though the Blitz was a scary and difficult time, the people in Great Britain were very brave and worked together to help each other. They rebuilt their homes and buildings after the bombings, and eventually the war ended and things went back to normal.
