Weather front

Okay kiddo, have you ever looked outside and noticed that sometimes the weather changes from sunny to rainy or from hot to cold? Well, that usually happens because of something called a weather front.

A weather front is like a line that separates two different types of air masses. You see, the air around us is sometimes warm and sometimes cold, and when these two different temperatures meet, it causes a weather front.

Let's say the air to the north of us is really cold and the air to the south of us is really warm. When they meet, the warm air gets pushed upwards by the cold air, and that's when you might see clouds forming and rain falling.

There are different types of weather fronts, like cold fronts and warm fronts. When a cold front moves in, it usually means the weather is going to get cooler and windy. The opposite happens with a warm front, which brings warmer temperatures and possibly rain.

So, the bottom line is that a weather front is when different types of air masses meet and cause changes in the weather.
