Okay kiddo, so you know what a saint is, right? It’s someone who is really good and holy and lived a long time ago. Well, in the 2nd century, which is like a long, long time ago, there were many people who were very good and holy, and they became saints.
Now, these saints didn’t all become saints at the same time, so we have a list called a “chronological list” to help us remember which one became a saint first, second, third and so on. It’s kind of like a timeline, except it’s just for the saints.
So, here are some of the saints from the 2nd century in the order that they became saints:
1. Saint Ignatius of Antioch - He was a bishop who wrote letters to other bishops and Christians that are still read today.
2. Saint Polycarp - He was also a bishop who knew Saint John the Evangelist, who wrote one of the Gospels in the Bible.
3. Saint Justin Martyr - He was a philosopher who became a Christian and was eventually killed because of his beliefs.
4. Saint Irenaeus of Lyons - He was a bishop who wrote a lot about the Christian faith and how it should be practiced.
These are just a few of the saints from the 2nd century, but they were all very important in helping to spread the Christian faith and teach people how to live good and holy lives.
