The United Kingdom is like a big puzzle made up of four smaller puzzles: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Each of these smaller puzzles is called a country, but when they all fit together they make the United Kingdom.
Each country has its own government, flag, and culture, but they all work together to make important decisions for the whole United Kingdom. For example, they might decide on things like how much money to spend on hospitals, how to protect the environment, or what the rules for driving should be.
England is the largest of the four countries and is where the capital city, London, is located. Scotland is famous for its beautiful landscapes and castles, while Wales is known for its stunning coastline and ancient castles. Northern Ireland is the smallest of the four and shares a border with the Republic of Ireland.
Each country has its own unique identity, but when they come together they create an amazing and powerful country, the United Kingdom!
