ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Degrees of truth

Degrees of truth are like grades — each statement can have a different grade based on how true the statement is. Think of it like a test. If you get 80% of the answers right, your grade is an A- (90% is an A). If you get less than 50% of the answers right, your grade is an F.

The same is true with degrees of truth. For example, if you say something like "the sky is blue", it is completely true. So it would get a 100% grade and be considered "absolutely true".

But if you say something like "my dog is the cutest", that statement is more opinion than fact. So it would get a lower grade, like an A-, because it's not completely true.
