Independent living means that you can take care of yourself and do things on your own. Let's think about it this way: do you like to play with grown-ups all the time or do you sometimes like to play by yourself? When you grow up, you'll want to do things by yourself too. You might want to cook your own food, clean your room, make your bed, or even pay bills. These are all things that you can do on your own when you reach the level of Independent living. Sometimes, people might need a little help, like if you can't reach something high on the shelf, you might ask someone taller to help you reach it. But being Independent means you can take care of yourself most of the time.
