Magnetic switch

Okay kiddo, you know how some things stick together like magnets? Well, we can use magnets to make a little switch that can turn things on or off. The switch works by having two parts: one part has a magnet inside and the other part has a little metal piece. When the two parts come close together, the magnet pulls the metal piece towards it and that makes the switch turn on. When the two parts move apart, the metal piece goes away from the magnet and that makes the switch turn off.

We use magnetic switches in lots of things, like doors that open automatically or toys that turn on when you push a button. It's like magic, but really it's just magnets doing their thing!
