Neocolonialism

Neocolonialism is a way that some countries are able to have power over other countries even though they do not have any political power. It works like this: a powerful country might help a weaker country by giving it money, but then the powerful country starts to control how the weaker country spends that money. This might be by demanding that the weaker country buy only things from the powerful country, or they might demand that the weaker country do what the powerful country tells it to do. Neocolonialism is bad because it means that the weaker country is not actually able to make its own decisions, and it can make them worse off than before.
