ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Puberty

Puberty is a time in your life when your body starts changing. When you hit puberty, your body begins to produce hormones, which are chemicals that help you grow and develop. This is why boys and girls look different during puberty and grow taller and produce more body hair. During puberty, girls start to get their period, which is when your uterus (the organ where a baby grows) starts to bleed once a month. Boys start making more of the male hormone called testosterone, which helps them grow taller, stronger, and makes them start to look more like a man. Boys may also get bigger muscles and grow more body hair during this time. Changes during puberty can take a few years to happen, so don't worry if you don't look like everyone else, it just takes time!
