ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Push up

A push up is a really simple and fun exercise that helps make your body stronger. It's kind of like playing a game, but it's for your muscles instead of your brain!

Here's how it works:

First, get down on the floor on your hands and knees. Then, stretch your legs out so that your body is in a straight line (like you're a plank of wood). Make sure your hands are on the ground right under your shoulders.

Next, you're going to bend your arms and lower your whole body down towards the ground. Keep your body straight - don't let your bottom stick up in the air or sag down towards the ground.

When your chest and nose are close to touching the ground, stop and push yourself back up to straighten your arms again.

That's one push up!

Now, you might not be strong enough to do a whole bunch of push ups at once - and that's okay! You can start with just doing a few push ups every day and then gradually work up to more.

Doing push ups helps make your arms, chest, and back muscles stronger. Plus, since you're pushing your whole body up and down, it's also good for your tummy and leg muscles!
