Rural electricity is electricity that runs to areas that are not very close to bigger cities. It can be very hard to run electricity cables to these places, because it is very far and takes time and money. To get around this problem, electricity companies have built special power plants that can produce their own electricity. These plants are usually in the middle of rural areas, and they send electricity cables around the outside, so all the homes and buildings can get electricity.
