ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Collective guilt

Collective guilt is a feeling of responsibility that everyone in a group shares for something bad that happened. It's like everyone in the group is apologizing at the same time. For example, if a group of students did something wrong, like cheat on a test, they might all feel guilty about it, even though only one of them actually cheated. They would feel collectively guilty because they were all part of the same group when the bad thing happened.
