ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Military rites

When someone serves in the military, they might have special ceremonies to honor them and show respect for their service. These ceremonies are called military rites. They can happen at different times, like when someone dies, when they retire, or when they get awarded for their bravery. During military rites, soldiers in uniform might shoot guns into the air or play music on instruments called bugles. They might also fold a pretty flag and give it to the person being honored, or to their family if they passed away. It's like when you get a special gold sticker at school or a trophy after a sports game, but for grown-up soldiers who did important things for their country.
