ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mineral industry

The mineral industry is when we take out rocks and minerals from the ground to use them for different things. Some of the most common minerals that we take out are things like gold, silver, copper, and iron.

Imagine you're in a big sandbox, and instead of using your shovel to play, you're using it to dig up rocks and minerals from underneath the sand. This is kind of what the mineral industry looks like. We use big machines and tools to take the minerals out from deep down in the earth.

Now, why do we take these rocks and minerals out of the ground? Well, they can be used to do lots of different things! For example, gold is often used to make jewelry, copper is used in electrical wiring, and iron is used to make steel.

It's important to remember that while we have to take these minerals out of the ground to use them, we need to be careful not to hurt the environment or the animals and plants that live there. We also need to make sure we use the minerals responsibly and think about how we can reuse or recycle them instead of just throwing them away.
